UMASCE CONSULTATION 2011

July 30 to August 2 at Fall Creek Falls State Park, Pikeville, TN

Innovating from the Margins

The shape of the "Church that is yet to be" is unclear. How do we minister in these in-between times?
At our 2009 Consultation, we were called to stand with people on the margins and in the in-between in the educational ministry of the church. God is at the margins and that is where we are called to be. So our next Consultation will explore such innovations that are currently going on and join our collective imagination to focus on how we can further lead from the margins toward creating communities of truth seeking new directions.

We are returning to Fall Creek Falls State Park because of its proximity to Nashville and because of the facilities and the good price. We hope that everyone can find a way to be there.

Goals:
1) To unpack assumptions/mental models about what people need in terms of formation.
2) To explore what is happening in formation--alternative/experiments for engaging theological questions.
3) To ask how do we discover what people are asking and how do we create environments where these issues/questions emerge.
4) To explore what difference this makes for our work in faith formation in our respective contexts.

About this Web Site

It seems best to use this web site more as a location for documents to which we need to refer than for ongoing information, except for the purpose of providing for consultation registration, etc.

The list of members of UMASCE will no longer contain contact information, so if you are wishing to locate someone please contact Ben Marshall at rben@airmail.net and he will provide you with how to contact that person. This change seems best for security purposes.
